What To Do

Bees help the ecosystem and also provide natural products that are considered vital for human health. These bee products are royal jelly, honey, and propolis. However, there are also some things that we must do in support of these pollinators.

Simple Things To Support Pollinators

As humans and as part of the ecosystem as well, here are the things that we can do to help the bees. We can do these at home, within the community, or even on the go.

  1. Create a Garden That’s Insect-Friendly

The garden can become friendlier especially to bees. To do that, we need to:

  • Plant local flowers that contain a lot of pollen, such clover, lavender, and wildflowers.
  • Stay away from chemicals that kill pests and fungi since they can damage bees and possibly kill colonies.
  • Install watering holes to serve as drinking portals for bees. This will prevent them from drowning.
  1. Don’t Forget to Feed the Bees

Store enough honey so that the bees have something to get during winter collection. Late summer or fall is the best time for the bees to feed on sugar syrup. This applies especially true in places where finding nectar is really hard.

  1. Support Honest Beekeeping

You can help local beekeepers by buying their honey and knowing how they care for their bees, feed them, and use pesticides.Contribute to neighborhood beekeeping organizations or help out neighborhood apiaries.

Different forms of honey like “raw honey” or the certified organic ones provide more benefits to human health because of the minimal processing that they have undergone.

  1. Explore other things and share them with other people.

  • Research for the root causes of health issues such as Colony Collapse Disorder. Also, discover the role of pesticides and habitat loss to bees’ health.
  • Take advantage of social media use, joining gardening organizations, and attending training programs and tell people the benefits of bees to human health.
  1. Fight for Laws that are Good for Bees

Pesticide use should be cut down by local governments. Parks and other green places should get more money, and pollinator routes should be built. There is great potential for municipal regulations to make a difference, similar to the programs supported by Help Save Bees, which promote healthy eating and environmental responsibility. Help stop the loss of bees around the world by working to ban the dangerous neonicotinoids or speaking out against their use.

  1. Make Habits for Long-term Consumption

  • Instead of manufactured candles and skin care products, choose ones made from plant or beeswax.
  • Better places for bees to live will result from less pollution caused by package waste and single-use plastics.
  • Buy food and crops that are good for bees to support local farmers and their work.

Last Thoughts

Supporting the bees to survive in our ecosystem is actually a simple step to do. Planting flowers or picking raw honey can help them a lot. These will maintain and protect our biodiversity while making the community healthier for everyone. Additionally, food security may also be better. Helping the bees may also help our health.
